19/6 Dance Stories

This afternoon the children participated in dance storytelling at the ramp. We used the speakers and played music for them to respond to with dance to tell a story. The children very much enjoyed putting actions to the words and sounds of the music to show a story.

This activity allowed for the children to develop their gross motor skills, by dancing and moving around, and develop their non-verbal skills by telling a story through movements alone. Some children enjoyed using dance moves from different showcases and Christmas concerts that they have performed in, or from dance classes that they have done. The children enjoyed teaching their peers different dance moves and the experience provided the opportunity to develop their verbal skills whilst they were teaching their peers.
